Honey Rasalan

Trust Manager

Starting off as a volunteer, Honey was employed by MAT after a month to handle the role of fund raising for MAT. She has a bachelor’s degree in Development Communication from the Philippines and over 10 years hands-on experience in community development. She had worked as an Education Specialist for an internationally-funded training and education project for local communities. She had also worked as a University Lecturer. Honey is presently working on her Masters in Adult Literacy and Numeracy at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

 

 

Shailia Bhatt

Office/Finance Coordinator

Shaila Bhatt who is originally from India was introduced to Migrant Action Trust (MAT) through Sukhmani Charitable Trust (SCT) in 2012. MAT and SCT at the time had a joint project to deliver job search seminars to the Sikh community in New Lynn, Auckland. She attended that seminar. As a new migrant Shaila faced a lot of emotional challenges in her immigration to New Zealand. She overcame them by volunteering in non-profits. The challenges she faced also led her with a mission to help and assist new migrants achieve their goals.
